selection process for Team USA

This post may be a test of what is and what is not acceptable so far as pro/con discussions and suggestions on how what is presently in place might be changed for the better.

I may be in a very lonely camp of agreement on my view that the present system is not the best one for bowling. I don't think there should be any coaches selections, any pro bowler selections by whomever, or qualifying rounds for a very few positions while having to pay entry fees and expenses to compete.

It is my view there should be an at the end of the rainbow pot of gold goal in place right from the start for entry level junior boys and girls with stepladder levels of coaching available to the few that have the talent and desire to travel the long road where the pot of gold resides.

I think there should be in place auxiliary Team USA membership all over this land for the juniors a step away from making the national team and others who want to be on the team and pass strict requirements to become auxiliary members. Pro bowlers who want to be on the team can apply to become auxiliary members and try out like everyone else.

The auxiliary members would be charged with appearing in charitable exhibitions, coupled with other charitable organizations, and other means of selling bowling to provide funding for free trips of the very best to a national qualifier where all Team USA members for one year or two or whatever make the team because they are the best in a testing qualifier and when they do get to bowl in the best events.

I think something like this would provide greater opportunities to show case national team members and their activities at local levels and become a major selling tool for boys and girls to do what it takes to become very good bowlers, many of them not achieving their dream (just as those who want to become major league baseball, basketball, football, etal players don't achieve their dream but many become very good while trying).

Placing an emphasis on winning gold medals that when won the majority of the USBC members never hear about it, local level support by bowling centers and associations non existent for the most part does not deliver the kind of value I think bowling needs and could get if Team USA was structured differently.
